Tegg Notes Privacy Policy
For the initial macOS release without iCloud features.
Last updated: September 6, 2026
Tegg Notes is a Markdown reading, editing, and file organization app developed by Yang Lei. This policy explains how the app and its related support channels handle information.
The app does not collect data
This version of Tegg Notes does not upload notes, file contents, search history, usage activity, or device identifiers to the developer or third-party servers. It requires no app account and includes no advertising, tracking, third-party analytics SDKs, AI services, or developer-operated online services.
Apple may process App Store downloads, system diagnostics, or crash information under your system settings and its privacy policy. These system services are separate from the app’s own data handling.
Documents and local storage
Reading, editing, and search take place on your device. The app accesses files and folders you select or authorize, and stores settings, document references, workspace state, and data used for local document features on the device. The bundled rendering tools do not need to send documents to an online service.
You can manage your documents using the app and Finder. Removing the app does not automatically delete Markdown files stored in external folders you selected.
iCloud and synchronized folders you choose
This version does not provide an in-app iCloud library or iCloud synchronization. If cloud synchronization is added in a future release, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy information when that feature is introduced.
If you place files in a folder synchronized by the operating system or another app, that provider may process those files under its own terms. This is separate from whether Tegg Notes itself provides cloud synchronization.
External links, the website, and voluntary support
When you choose to open an external link, your browser or another app accesses the destination service. Website hosting providers may process IP addresses, request information, and ordinary access logs to serve pages and maintain security. The statement that the app does not collect data does not mean external websites have no access logs.
Voluntary support on the website takes place outside the app and does not unlock app features. If you support development through WeChat or Alipay, the payment provider processes the transaction under its own policy. The recipient may receive the amount, time, transaction identifier, and payer display information supplied by that platform. These records are not linked to your in-app notes or usage activity.
Voluntary contact and retention
If you email the developer, we receive the email address, message, and attachments you choose to provide. We use them to reply, resolve your request, and keep necessary records. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive information.
Contact records are retained for the period needed to handle the request. Payment records may need to be retained to meet applicable financial or legal obligations. You may contact the developer to request access, correction, or deletion of information you provided, except records that must be retained by law. You manage the app’s local files yourself.
